Don't forget to mention our names!
Are kids invited?
We love your little ones. However, we have decided to keep our wedding weekend an adults-only event. We encourage you to use this time as a fun vacation! We appreciate you making prior arrangements so you can celebrate with us.
What’s the currency,
and do we need cash?
$1 USD is approximately $4,000 Colombian pesos, and prices are often shown in thousands or even millions, which can feel a bit confusing. Credit cards are widely accepted at restaurants, bars, and shops—just be sure to select local currency to avoid extra fees. Keep in mind that many vendors charge a credit card fee. Cash is helpful for tips and street vendors, and we recommend carrying about $60 USD in Colombian pesos per day to get around. US dollars (cash) are generally not accepted nor recommeded. The best way to get Colombian pesos is through your bank in the US before traveling, but you can also exchange money at the airport (with higher fees).
When should I RSVP by?
Kindly RSVP before January 30, 2026. If you are unable to attend, we would still appreciate you letting us know at the soonest opportunity. Any RSVPs received after January 30, 2026, will be marked as a “unable to attend.” We will truly miss your presence!
Should I stay at Sofitel Calablanca Baru?
We have negotiated discounted rates at Hotel Sofitel Calablanca Baru. The bride & groom and their families will be staying here, and we’d love for you to join as most of the events will kick-off from the hotel. However, we understand that this may not be possible for everyone.
What time should we arrive on Wedding Day?
The ceremony will begin at 5:00 PM at La Pergola Rooftop, Sofitel Calablanca Barú. We kindly ask that you arrive about 20 minutes early to be seated on time. Guests arriving after the ceremony has started will not be able to be seated and will have to wait until the cocktail hour to enter.
Which airport should we fly into?
You should fly into Rafael Núñez International Airport (CTG), which is the only airport in Cartagena.
How far is the venue from the airport?
The hotel where the wedding will take place is about 25 miles from Cartagena’s airport, about a 1-hour drive. The hotel offers private airport transfers for guests staying on property, so we recommend booking in advance to secure your spot. For more details, you can reach the concierge via WhatsApp at +57 324-5566511
Do you have recommended airlines or flight times?
From our experience, the easiest way to get to Cartagena is the direct JetBlue flight from JFK Airport.
It’s about a 5-hour flight—you’d leave around 9 AM and arrive in Cartagena around 2 PM (Colombia is one hour behind the U.S. in March 2026). While the airport is a bit far, it’s super convenient! I usually drive and reserve parking at the TWA Hotel in Terminal 5—it has valet parking and is just a short walk to the JetBlue counter, so no shuttle is needed. Link to reserve parking at the TWA Hotel below:
When should we arrive to Cartagena?
We suggest arriving a few days before the wedding, by Saturday, March 21, so you can enjoy the weekend. We’ve planned a pre-wedding event on Sunday, and the bride & groom are also organizing an informal night out on Saturday for anyone who’d like to join. Please let Valentina know if you’re interested.
Do we need a passport or visa?
If you’re a U.S. citizen or U.S. permanent resident, you need a valid passport to travel to Cartagena. U.S.Permanent residents should also bring their valid green card. If you have both Colombian and U.S. nationality, don’t forget both valid passports. No visa is required.
Is Cartagena Safe?
Cartagena is generally safe in the main tourist areas, where streets are well-patrolled. Just stick to well-lit streets at night, keep an eye on your belongings, and use trusted ride apps. A little common-sense awareness goes a long way, and you’ll be free to relax and enjoy the city. At the resort, you have nothing to worry about!
Which language do they speak in Cartagena?
In Cartagena, people speak Spanish, but in tourist areas, you’ll find locals who understand some English.
Should I get travel insurance?
We recommend purchasing travel insurance for peace of mind during this vacation.
What’s the best way to have cellphone service?
Most restaurants, hotels, and the airport have Wi-Fi. If you’d like cellular service and internet, we recommend contacting your carrier, as most offer international plans. Be sure to set up a plan before your arrival to avoid roaming fees.
Can I bring a date?
We’re keeping the guest list limited, so we won’t be able to accommodate a plus one.
